A link text is the clickable text in a hyperlink, which is typically highlighted in a different color or underlined to indicate that it is a link. The link text has both a practical function, as it guides the user to understand what to expect by clicking on the link, as well as an important role in your SEO strategy.

In terms of SEO, it is important that the link text is descriptive and relevant to the page it links to, as search engines use link texts to understand the context and content of the pages being linked to.

The importance of correct link text in relation to SEO

Good link text must meet several criteria to be effective for both users and search engines:

Relevance

The link text should accurately describe the content the user is being taken to. For example, if the link leads to a page about “Houses for Sale,” the link text should be something like “See our houses for sale” rather than generic text like “Click here.”

User Experience (UX)

Link texts are also important for the user experience. Clear and informative link text helps the user navigate more efficiently and understand what they are clicking on. It improves user engagement and can reduce bounce rates, which also has a positive impact on your visibility in search engines.

How to optimize link texts

When working with link texts on your website, there are some simple rules that can help you optimize them for both users and search engines:
