Actively use LSI keywords

LSI søgeord

LSI stands for (Latent Semantic Indexing), which means that search engines understand and index content semantically. This means that Google not only ranks content based on the specific words in the text, but also related terms.

LSI keywords are therefore a term that covers related terms that you can use in your texts to achieve better rankings in Google. This means that you should no longer focus on keyword density, but rather on LSI keywords (closely related keywords).

LSI keywords should not be confused with synonyms, but rather a word that relates to the primary keyword/topic.

For example, LSI keywords for mobile phone repair would be iPhone, Samsung, Huawei, etc.

How to find LSI keywords

Google autocomplete

You can easily find LSI keywords by entering your primary keyword into Google and seeing what they recommend in Google autocomplete.

In this case fruit:

Google search with the word 'fruit'.

Google related searches

You can also search for your primary keyword and see what Google lists at the bottom of the search results as “Related keywords”.

Here is a search for How to wash clothes:

Google Ads – Keyword planner

In Google Ads (Keyword planner) you can find ideas for your Google Ads Search keywords, but also for LSI keywords.

By entering your primary keyword, you can get a list of what Google thinks are relevant terms. These will be LSI keywords that you can actively use in your optimization.

In most cases, it will make sense to sort out brand names.

Here is a search for shelves.

In addition to the above options, there are also several tools for finding LSI keywords. One of them we also use is lsikeywords.com. However, most tools are foreign and not always good for the Danish market.

How to use LSI keywords

Once you have compiled a list of relevant LSI keywords that you can use in your SEO work, all you have to do is implement them.

You can insert them in the following places:

  • Text
  • Meta title
  • ALT text
  • H1 tag
  • H2/H3 tags

Feel free to implement as many LSI keywords as possible to give Google a better understanding of the content of the page. However, always remember to write for users and not search engines, and of course only implement keywords that make sense for the content in question.
